With so many crafty entries it wasn’t easy choosing our winner, but after much deliberation we picked Sarah Moore and her adorable ‘peas in a pod’ pin cushions. We love how unique they are and how snug the little peas look in their fabric homes. Congratulations Sarah!

We caught up with Sarah about her inspiration for her entry and she told us, ‘I have lots of pretty fabric scraps and trimmings and amongst them were some lovely green blanket and velvet pieces.  I love the organic shape of the pea pod and the soft interior that you find if you pod a broad bean.’

DIGITAL DECO

In Autumn/Winter 2012 we used digital printing techniques to lovingly create all of the tiny details that made up our country  Cottage Sewing Basket.

Cath discovered a cardboard calendar at a vintage fair decorated with an unusual tapestry scene, reproduced in watercolours. Taking the brickwork as the first inspiration, the design team drew in incredible details – including climbing vines, a watering can and boot bench – to make the digital wrap.

To finish, the plastic wicker woven roof created a tactile tiling effect – bringing to life the roof tiling of the well in that antique calendar scene.

HOME SWEET HOME

This season’s take on the sewing box home – our Bungalow sewing basket - comes from one of our very own 2013 Summer prints, Cottage stripe, which takes its inspiration from a rose-covered cottage by the sea, printed on a vintage tea towel.

The design team took this humble home and transformed it into a quirky, tactile 3D bungalow, using felt and finished with fine embroidery detailing: foxgloves climb the walls towards the red threaded roof, evoking the authentic thatch from the original design.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Just in time for ski season, we’re really excited about our new Chalet design that will launch  in our Autumn/Winter collection – a real festive favourite.

A twin-lidded roof opens up to reveal lots of handy pockets and storage trays, and the felt heart on the front gives a clue to our brand new print that lines the inside.

You’ll be able to complete your collection when the Chalet hits stores later this year.
